How turnaround time works

The quoted window bundles three things: the queue in front of you, the actual machine time, and a buffer for reruns. Machine time is usually the smallest slice. A six-head embroidery machine can stitch 500 left-chest logos in a day. The reason the quote says 12 days is the queue, not the stitching.
Decoration method changes the shape of the window. Screen printing needs screens burned and inks mixed before anything runs, so setup is front-loaded and the per-unit speed afterwards is very fast. Embroidery needs a digitized stitch file and a sew-out sample approved first, which often adds two to three days on a new logo. Direct-to-garment and direct-to-film skip most setup and can turn small runs in days, which is why they carry rush work. Sublimation and cut-and-sew are the slow end, because the garment itself is manufactured after your order, not decorated from stock.
