10 best Printify alternatives for POD sellers in 2026

Printify does not print anything itself. It is a marketplace that sends your orders to a network of independent print providers: 70+ providers and 140+ facilities, as listed on printify.com in October 2026. That network is why Printify is cheap and carries 2,000+ products. It is also why quality, speed and packaging can change from one provider to the next. The right Printify alternative depends on which side of that trade-off is costing you sales.

Quick answer. Want one company in control of production? Look at Printful, SPOD or Podbase. Want another routed network with more local production? Gelato or Gooten. Want the store, checkout and audience handled for you? Fourthwall, Spreadshop, Redbubble or Zazzle. Selling at volume and want a discount plan? CustomCat. Buying merch for your own company instead of selling it? Skip to the last section.

How Printify's network model shapes your choice

Every print-on-demand (POD) service makes the same promise: no inventory, you only pay when a customer orders. The difference is who actually prints the product. There are three models on this list.

  • Provider networks (Printify, Gelato, Gooten). The platform routes your order to a partner. You get range and local production, but you share Printify's main weakness: consistency depends on the partner.
  • Own production (Printful, SPOD, Podbase). One company runs the presses. Fewer surprises, usually a smaller catalogue or a higher base price.
  • Hosted shops and marketplaces (Fourthwall, Spreadshop, Redbubble, Zazzle). They print, ship and run the storefront. Less work for you, less control over the customer.

If your problem with Printify is reviews about print quality, move to own production. If your problem is shipping time abroad, look at a network built for local production. If your problem is running a Shopify store at all, a hosted shop may be the better fit.

All facts as listed on each vendor's own site in October 2026. Where a vendor does not publish something, the table says so.

1. Printful: one company in control instead of a network

Printful is the most direct answer to the main complaint about Printify. Instead of picking a provider, you order from Printful and Printful prints it.

  • Who it's for: Shopify and Etsy sellers whose reviews mention print quality or inconsistent packaging.
  • Production model: Printful calls itself "a completely in-house partner" and says apparel ships from its in-house facilities. Its quality page also mentions partner facilities (as listed on printful.com in October 2026).
  • Where it prints: multiple locations, for example the USA and Europe. Printful says 86% of orders are fulfilled in the same region as the customer.
  • Integrations: 20+ platforms, including Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, Wix, Squarespace and BigCommerce.
  • Pricing: a free plan with 577 products and unlimited stores. Printful Growth costs $24.99 a month (up to 33% off products) and becomes free once you pass $12K a year in sales.
  • What it does well: one accountable producer, consistent finishing, branding extras like inside and outside labels.
  • Watch-outs: extras are priced separately (inside labels $0.99, outside labels $2.49, embroidery digitisation $2.95 to $6.50 per design). The catalogue is a fraction of Printify's 2,000+ products.

We compare Printful's options in more depth in our Printful alternatives guide.

2. Gelato: a network built for local production

Gelato uses the same basic model as Printify, a network of partners. The difference is the routing: Gelato sends each order to the production partner nearest the customer.

  • Who it's for: sellers whose buyers are spread across many countries.
  • Production model: partner network, 250+ production partners in 32 countries (as listed on gelato.com in October 2026).
  • Where it prints: 32 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas.
  • Integrations: Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce, TikTok Shop, Amazon and an API.
  • Pricing: free plan (2 connected stores). Gelato+ is $29.99 a month, or $19.99 a month billed yearly, with up to 33% off products, unlimited stores and 800+ premium mockups. Platinum is custom. Gelato says it charges no commission.
  • What it does well: shorter delivery for international buyers, because the item is made in or near their country.
  • Watch-outs: it is still a partner network, so test samples in your main markets. The free plan caps you at 2 stores.

3. Gooten: a managed network that routes for you

Gooten is the closest in spirit to Printify, with one big difference. With Printify, you choose the provider. With Gooten, its network "will route, process, produce and ship orders" (as listed on gooten.com in October 2026).

  • Who it's for: growing merchants who want less provider management. Gooten segments its offer into start-up, SMB and enterprise.
  • Production model: a managed network of vetted decorators.
  • Where it prints: a "global network" with localized production. The site does not name countries.
  • Integrations: Shopify (free app), Etsy, WooCommerce, TikTok Shop, BigCommerce, OrderDesk and a custom API.
  • Pricing: not published on the homepage. You sign up or contact sales.
  • What it does well: 500+ products and routing handled for you, which suits sellers who outgrew comparing providers one by one.
  • Watch-outs: less visibility into where an order is made, and no public plan pricing to compare upfront.

4. SPOD (now Spreadconnect): speed from its own facilities

SPOD is Spread Group's print-on-demand service for your own store. Its help centre confirms that SPOD is rebranding to Spreadconnect.

  • Who it's for: sellers who care most about fast dispatch and sell mainly in one region.
  • Production model: Spread Group's own production facilities, which it says process "tens of thousands" of orders a day.
  • Where it prints: Las Vegas for North America; Leipzig (Germany), Legnica (Poland) and Krupka (Czech Republic) for Europe (as listed on Spreadconnect's help centre in October 2026).
  • Integrations: Shopify, WooCommerce, TikTok, Squarespace, Shopware, Magento, OrderDesk and an API. Etsy is not listed.
  • Pricing: free, with "zero costs or fees" to set up and run a shop. You pay product and shipping per order.
  • What it does well: speed. Spreadconnect says it ships within 48 hours for 95% of orders.
  • Watch-outs: each account is tied to one region, so selling in both the US and Europe needs two accounts. Around 250 products, far fewer than Printify.

5. Podbase: in-house printing for phone cases and tech

  • Who it's for: sellers whose bestsellers are phone cases, laptop sleeves, desk mats and other tech accessories.
  • Production model: its own facility. Podbase says products are "printed on demand in our own facility" and that most orders are printed and shipped within 24 hours (as listed on podbase.com in October 2026).
  • Where it prints: the site does not name locations.
  • Integrations: Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, Order Desk and an open API.
  • Pricing: free, no subscription. Its calculator shows base products from €6.11.
  • What it does well: a deep range of case types (tough, MagSafe, clear, snap) that general POD catalogues treat as an afterthought.
  • Watch-outs: a specialist. It is not where you go for a full apparel line.

6. CustomCat: a discount plan for volume sellers

  • Who it's for: sellers with steady volume who want lower unit prices in exchange for a monthly fee.
  • Production model: the site does not say where or by whom products are made. It cites 40K+ units produced and shipped daily (as listed on customcat.com in October 2026).
  • Integrations: Shopify, WooCommerce, Etsy, BigCommerce, an API and CSV upload.
  • Pricing: CustomCat Lite is free. CustomCat PRO costs $30 a month or $300 a year, with 20 to 40% off standard pricing.
  • What it does well: a clear break-even. If PRO's discount on your volume beats $30 a month, the maths is easy.
  • Watch-outs: no public detail on production location, so order samples before you move bestsellers.

7. Fourthwall: a hosted shop for creators

  • Who it's for: creators with an audience on YouTube, TikTok or Instagram who want a shop without building one on Shopify.
  • Production model: manufacturing and fulfilment partners in the US, UK, EU and Australia (as listed on fourthwall.com in October 2026).
  • Integrations: YouTube Merch Shelf, Instagram and Facebook Shopping, and TikTok Shopping. Shopify is not listed as an integration.
  • Pricing: free plan, or Pro at $15 a month. US card payments carry 2.9% + 30¢. On catalogue products Fourthwall deducts a flat fee from your selling price.
  • What it does well: Fourthwall handles customer support for catalogue products and acts as Merchant of Record, so it collects and remits sales tax.
  • Watch-outs: most items arrive in 7 to 10 days. It replaces your store rather than plugging into one.

8. Spreadshop: a free storefront with service included

  • Who it's for: creators and small brands who want a free shop and do not want to answer customer emails.
  • Production model: Spread Group prints on demand ("We only print when an order is placed") and ships to your customer.
  • Where it prints: "facilities across the globe" (as listed on spreadshop.com in October 2026).
  • Integrations: none with third-party stores. That is what Spreadconnect is for.
  • Pricing: free to run. You set your own price above the base price and keep the difference.
  • What it does well: full customer service is included, which Printify does not offer your buyers.
  • Watch-outs: you send traffic to a Spreadshop storefront, not to your own domain store. See our Spreadshirt alternatives if you are weighing the Spread Group family.

9. Redbubble: a marketplace with built-in traffic

  • Who it's for: artists who want buyers without running a store or ads.
  • Production model: marketplace. Redbubble arranges printing "on over 60 quality products" and shipping "to almost anywhere on earth" (as listed on redbubble.com in October 2026).
  • Integrations: none needed. Redbubble is the storefront.
  • Pricing: opening a shop is free. Redbubble has Standard, Premium and Pro account tiers, and lists "no account fees" as a Pro benefit, so check the fee rules for your tier.
  • What it does well: an existing audience and 700,000+ artists, which proves the demand is there.
  • Watch-outs: Redbubble owns the customer. You compete with every other artist in the search results.

10. Zazzle: personalised products on a marketplace

  • Who it's for: designers selling personalised and gift products to marketplace shoppers.
  • Production model: marketplace. Zazzle "handles all of the product fulfillment and customer service" (as listed on zazzle.com in October 2026).
  • Pricing: a free Zazzle store. You set the royalty rate on your designs and get paid per product sold.
  • What it does well: zero operations. No store, no support inbox, no integrations.
  • Watch-outs: you earn a royalty, not a retail margin, and you do not own the customer relationship.

When Printify is still the right call

You may not need to switch. Printify's free plan covers 5 stores, and Premium costs $39 a month, or $24.99 a month billed yearly, for up to 20% off all products (as listed on printify.com in October 2026). It connects to Etsy, Shopify, TikTok Shop, Amazon, eBay, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and BigCommerce. If your margins depend on picking the cheapest provider per product, and your reviews are fine, the network is working for you. Switch the products with quality complaints, not the whole store.

How to choose in four questions

  1. Are reviews mentioning print quality? Move those products to own production: Printful, SPOD or Podbase.
  2. Are international buyers waiting too long? Test Gelato's local production in your top three countries.
  3. Do you even want to run a store? If not, Fourthwall, Spreadshop, Redbubble or Zazzle remove the work.
  4. Is your volume steady? Price CustomCat PRO or Printify Premium against your monthly order count.

Whatever you pick, compare base price plus shipping to your main markets, not base price alone, and order samples before you move a bestseller.

How we compared

We started from the services that print-on-demand sellers compare most often against Printify. For each one we checked the vendor's own website in October 2026: pricing pages, network maps and help centres. We recorded who it is for, the production model, where it prints, store integrations, the pricing model, strengths and watch-outs. If a vendor's site did not confirm a fact, we left it out or marked it "not listed". We did not use third-party review scores. Prices and plans change, so check each vendor before you commit.

A note on who wrote this: Sunday is not a print-on-demand service and does not compete for sellers. We sell merch to companies for their own teams and customers, which is why we are in the last section, not the first.

Not selling merch? Buying it for your company

Some people search "Printify alternatives" because they need merch for their own company: onboarding packs, event apparel, a staff store, client gifts. Print-on-demand is built for a different job. It sells one item to one stranger and optimises for zero inventory. A company programme needs consistent branding across hundreds of people, budgets, approvals and stock that ships to every office.

That is what Sunday does. It is a Belgium-based platform for corporate merch programmes, used by 4,000+ brands shipping to 200+ countries. You get 490+ products and 2,700+ templates, a minimum of 10 pieces per item, and flexible global production. 70% of Sunday orders go through automatic design templates, so there is no designer and no proof cycle. Sunday handles customs and duties, so recipients never pay to receive. Sports socks are the most-ordered product, followed by t-shirts and hoodies.

What you choose matters more than how cheaply you print it. In a 258-person study with Sapience and VUB, bags and sweaters were worn more than twice by 69% and 67% of recipients, while 31% of plain socks were never worn.

Frequently asked questions

What are the top print-on-demand sites?

For your own store, the main options are Printify, Printful, Gelato, Gooten, SPOD (Spreadconnect), Podbase and CustomCat. For a hosted shop, Fourthwall and Spreadshop. For marketplaces with built-in traffic, Redbubble and Zazzle. Pick by production model first: a provider network, one company's own facilities, or a hosted shop that runs the store for you.

Is Gelato or Printify better?

Gelato is better if your buyers are spread across many countries, because it routes each order to the nearest of 250+ partners in 32 countries. Printify is better if you want the widest range, 2,000+ products, and to choose the provider yourself on price. Both are partner networks, so order samples in your main markets.

Printify or Printful in 2026?

Choose Printful if consistent quality matters most: it describes its production as in-house. Choose Printify if price and range matter most: you pick from 70+ providers. Both have a free plan. Printful Growth costs $24.99 a month; Printify Premium costs $39 a month, or $24.99 billed yearly. Many sellers use both, by product.

Redbubble or Printify?

Redbubble is a marketplace: you upload designs and sell to its existing shoppers, with no store to run, but Redbubble owns the customer. Printify is fulfilment for your own store on Shopify, Etsy or similar, so you keep the customer and set the margin, but you must bring the traffic. Start on Redbubble, build a brand on Printify.

Should I switch from Printify at all?

Only if something specific is hurting you. If reviews mention print quality, move those products to Printful, SPOD or Podbase. If international delivery is slow, test Gelato. If your margins and reviews are fine, staying is reasonable. Switching product by product is usually smarter than moving the whole store at once.

What if I need merch for my company, not to sell?

Then print-on-demand is the wrong tool. A corporate merch platform like Sunday handles branding, production, storage and shipping for staff and client merch, with 490+ products and a minimum of 10 pieces per item. 70% of Sunday orders go through automatic design templates, so there is no designer and no proof cycle.

Buying merch for your team, not selling it?
