AI for sales

Your CRM knows which clients deserve a thank-you. Your merch platform knows what to send. An AI agent can now connect the two, and a person still says yes before anything ships.

AI agents for sales are AI assistants connected to your sales tools, so they can read CRM data and prepare actions instead of only drafting emails. Paired with Sunday MCP, an agent can pick the clients where a gift would land best, suggest what to send and prepare the packs. A person approves every quote before anything ships.

The short version: let the CRM decide who, let Sunday decide what, and keep a person on the final yes.

What are AI agents for sales?

Most sales teams met AI as a writing tool. Draft the follow-up, summarise the call, rewrite the proposal. The AI sales agent is the next step: an assistant connected to the systems where sales work actually happens, able to read from them and prepare actions in them.

The connection runs through the Model Context Protocol, or MCP. It lets Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini talk to your CRM, your calendar and other business tools in one conversation. If you want the background, our plain-English guide to MCP servers explains it without code.

This article covers one specific job where that matters: sending something physical to a client at the right moment.

Why does client gifting slip in sales teams?

Every account manager agrees that a well-timed gift helps a relationship. Very few send them consistently. The reasons are practical:

  • Spotting the moment means scanning the CRM, and nobody has time to do it weekly.
  • Choosing a gift means browsing a catalog when you would rather be selling.
  • Getting it approved and shipped means a form, a budget check and an address chase.
  • By the time all of that is done, the moment has passed.

So gifting ends up concentrated around December and big wins, and the quieter moments get missed. A renewal coming up. A champion who just got promoted. An account that went silent. If you want gifting to be a habit, our post on making a corporate gifting program repeatable covers the programme side. The agent covers the legwork.

How does the CRM-to-gift workflow run?

This is a how-it-works scenario, not a customer result. Say you have HubSpot connected to your assistant, and Sunday MCP too.

1. Ask the CRM who

You ask which customers are best to send a gift to right now, the ones where it would have the most impact. The assistant reads your CRM data and comes back with a shortlist and its reasons.

2. Ask Sunday what

For that shortlist, you ask Sunday MCP what you should gift them. It suggests products and pre-made kits that fit the audience, so nobody browses the full catalog.

You, in Claude · Illustrative example: From HubSpot, find the five customers where a gift would have the most impact this month. Then ask Sunday what we should send each of them, within our usual client gift budget.
Sunday MCP: For the five accounts you selected, here are gift suggestions based on products that are popular and perform well for client audiences. I have generated a pack for each one in the Sunday app and prepared a quote. Review the quote on the link to approve. Shipments will wait for your confirmation.

3. A person approves

The packs are generated in the Sunday app. You open the quote, check it, approve it through the link and confirm the shipments. Then they go out.

"It's like adding physical products to any software layer." That is how Niels Vandecasteele at Sunday describes it. The CRM was always good at telling you who. Now it can be the start of something that arrives on a desk.

What is a HubSpot MCP, and why does it matter here?

A HubSpot MCP is an MCP server that connects an AI assistant to your HubSpot CRM. HubSpot offers an official one. Salesforce and several other CRMs have their own, and our roundup of the best MCP servers for marketing, HR and ops teams lists them.

On its own, a CRM MCP gives you better answers about your pipeline. Combined with a merch MCP in the same assistant, it becomes a trigger for something physical. That combination is the point. Neither system has to integrate with the other. The assistant sits in the middle and uses both.

The same pattern works with other signals. A closed deal can start a client onboarding gift. A renewal date can prompt a thank-you from your corporate gifts range. Leftover stock can go to the accounts that deserve it most. More of these are in 12 agentic AI examples in merch and gifting.

Who approves what?

Merch is complex. There are designs, approvals and brand guidelines, and a gift with your logo on it represents you in a client's office. The agent does the preparation. People keep the decisions.

The agent cannot place an order through Sunday MCP. There are no automatic orders today. Finance and procurement usually want this spelled out, and our agentic commerce FAQ for procurement and finance does that.

Should you use a gifting MCP or a merch MCP?

Two gifting companies launched MCP servers in June 2026. Goody's sends curated gifts from more than 600 third-party brands, with review before send and daily budget limits. Sendoso's covers gifting and direct mail, as a request-based beta. Both are good at buying someone else's product and getting it to a recipient.

Sunday MCP starts from your own branded merch: designed in your brand, produced, stored in a warehouse and shipped. Gifting is one part of it, next to budgets, stock questions, reorders and reporting. If your gifts carry your logo, or you also run onboarding kits and event merch, that difference matters. The fair comparison is in Sunday MCP vs Goody and Sendoso, and the platform-level comparisons in Sunday vs Sendoso and Sunday vs Reachdesk.

Turn CRM signals into gifts

Connect Sunday to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini next to your CRM. The agent prepares the packs, you approve the quote.

Where should a sales team start?

Start small and read-only. Ask your assistant which accounts it would pick and why, and check the reasoning against what you know. Then ask Sunday for gift ideas for two or three of them. Approve one quote and see the whole loop end to end.

Once that works, make it a rhythm. A weekly prompt for upcoming renewals, or a monthly one for top accounts. If you want that to run on a schedule, read AI workflow automation for swag programs.

Sunday MCP is included on every Sunday plan, and access is on request. Add Sunday as a custom connector with the URL you receive, then sign in with your Sunday account. The full walkthrough is in how to connect Sunday to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. No Sunday account yet? Create one for free and set up your client gift range first.

Frequently asked questions

What are AI agents for sales?
AI agents for sales are AI assistants connected to sales tools such as your CRM, so they can read account data and prepare actions instead of only drafting text. In client gifting, an agent can find the accounts where a gift would matter most, suggest what to send and prepare a quote for a person to approve.
What is a HubSpot MCP?
A HubSpot MCP is an MCP server that connects an AI assistant like Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini to your HubSpot CRM, so the assistant can read and work with your CRM data. HubSpot offers an official one. Combined with Sunday MCP in the same assistant, CRM data can decide who gets a gift and Sunday can decide what.
Can an AI sales agent send a gift without approval?
Not through Sunday MCP. The agent can suggest gifts, generate packs and prepare the quote, but it cannot place an order. A person approves the quote through a link, and shipments need human confirmation before they go out.
What is the difference between a gifting MCP and a merch MCP?
Gifting MCPs such as Goody and Sendoso, both launched in June 2026, send third-party gifts or direct mail. A merch MCP like Sunday MCP works with your own branded merchandise: designed in your brand, produced, stored in a warehouse and shipped. Gifting is one of the things Sunday MCP does, next to budgets, stock, reorders and reporting.
Which AI assistants support this workflow?
Sunday MCP works with Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini, and any other assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol. For the CRM side, you also need your CRM's own MCP connection added to the same assistant.
How do sales teams get access to Sunday MCP?
Sunday MCP is included on every Sunday plan. Request access through the form on the Sunday MCP page, and once Sunday grants it, add Sunday as a custom connector with the URL you receive and sign in with your Sunday account.
